Details

The reputation of the village Masua of Katiadi upazila under Kishoreganj distrcit spread upto distant West Bengal centered the famous Ray Family of Masua. Their reputation was not for the influence of their family but the main directrix was their extraordinary passion for juvenile literature and the achievement of introducing new stream in literature. The Ray Family added new horizon in Bangla literature. Upendra Kishore Ray, known as the pioneer of juvenile literature, his son Sukumar Ray, Subinoy Ray, Sukomol Ray, his daughter Sukhlata Ray, Punyalata Chakrabarty, Shantilata, grandson Satyajit Ray and younger brother Kuldarjan Ray were prominent. The brith of nine renowned persons in a single family has set up on the glorify perch not only Masua but also the whole of Kishoreganj district.
