Details

The ancestor of Sholakia ‘Shaheb Bari’ Shah Sufi Syed Ahmed coming from Yemen to preach Islam established Sholakia Eid ground on 7 acre land beside the river Narasunda in 1828 and first Eid jamat was held under his leadership. From local sources we have come to know that Shah Sufi Syed Ahmed told the number of people present there as ‘Shoa lakh’ watching the abundance of musullis. Sholakia comes from ‘Shoa lakh’ and Shoa lakhia. There are 265 lines in the Eid ground. About 600-700 number of musulli can stand in each line. Around 1 lakh 60 thousand to 1 lakh 85 thousand people  can pray together. The ancient name of Sholakia is Rajbaria. Eid-ul-Fitre in 1st shawal and Eid-ul Azha in 10th Jilhazz are being held from 1828. According to the long tradition, 3,2,1 and 1 shots of  gunfire are fired 5 minutes 3 minutes and 1 minute before the start Eid Jamat in Sholakia every year.
